See what our latest guests have to say about us...

Dear Rosalind, Sam and I just wanted to send you our thanks for such a lovely stay with both of you last weekend. It was perfect in every respect. You gave us such a warm welcome at your very fine house.
The whole experience, including the tremendously hearty breakfast, worked wonders for Sam. His hockey team completed a 6-1 victory in the spring sunshine against Berkshire but then came up against a very strong Surrey team and narrowly lost.
All in all a most memorable weekend.Stephen & Sam Sykes

We had 3 memorable and interesting days in a wonderful room at Ivy Cottage owned by Rosalind and Gregor in August 2012.
The house is in an idyllic area near the Thames, and ideally located for transport by bus and train to among other attractions Stonehenge, Salisbury, London and Windsor Castle.
Rosalind and Gregor were from the first day incredibly obliging, we were even picked up at the train station in Tilehurst. Gregor was very helpful with links and prints and proposals for various excursions, and Rosalind was preparing a wonderful breakfast with her special fruit salad.
They are both very warm and wonderful people and when we left Purley on Thames it was like leaving friends so we would very highly recommend this bed and breakfast, and we would love to go back. Dorthe and Inge Lise, Denmark

'My wife & I spent a delightful week at Ivy Cottage with Rosalind and Gregger in August.  The home is idyllic, charming, quiet, comfortable and up-to-date with amenities, while also an interesting and historic one.  Just a short walk from the Thames down a quiet lane, we were just a modest drive from a wide array of the places we most wanted to see such as Oxford, Bath, Stonehenge, and closer by picturesque gardens, estates, and villages such as Englefield, Basildon Park, and Henley-on-Thames.  And if one wants to get to London it’s a convenient train ride into Paddington Station.

However, what was really special about Ivy Cottage was not the place but Rosalind and Gregor themselves, who made us feel like we were family guests rather than clients, and went far above and beyond the call of duty to assist us in managing our affairs.

We came away feeling like it was absolutely our favorite B&B of all the places we’ve stayed in decades and we’d LOVE to go back.  Kudos to you, Rosalind and Gregor, for creating such a welcoming place for wayfarers like us! '
David Woodward, Seattle

'We stayed for 2 nights at this lovely B & B.
It was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Good breakfasts, personable hosts, good off road parking, warm and cosy rooms, all in all a thoroughly pleasant stay, thank you very much.'

Caroline and Nick Le Messurier, Dartmoor, Devon

'We really enjoyed the friendly hospitality in this charming cottage. Thanks a lot to Rosalind and Gregor.'
Pam Lorenzen ( Flensburg, Germany)

'Our night at the Ivy Cottage was our favorite of all the B&B’s and hotels we stayed in during our walk along the full length of the Thames. Your attention to the details of caring for your guests in small but unexpected ways (good conversation, laundry, WIFI, and transport of luggage) made such a difference.

'We had such a great time with you Gregor and Rosalind. It was like staying with friends. Thank you for your warm hospitality and really comfortable accommodation. We felt rested even though we only stayed for one night and we hope to come again.'

Peter and Cynthia Wrigley, Devon

'Our stay at Ivy Cottage was great - totally what we needed after a hard day's canoeing and one ahead! Bedrooms were super-comfortable, breakfast definitely set us up for the day (no lunch needed!) and they provided everything we could possibly want. Big thanks especially for the taxi service for the 2 canoes, us to Pangbourne for dinner and two of our group to the train station the next day - an absolutely amazing service. We would all love to return at some point.'
Kate Woolley and party, London'

'We recently stayed at Ivy Cottage during a walking holiday on the Thames Path. We found it to be extremely comfortable and relaxing and our hosts were most helpful. We enjoyed tea and homemade cake on our arrival and had an excellent breakfast. We were given a lift into Pangbourne in the evening and had a very good meal at one of the local pubs. We would highly recommend this bed and breakfast to others.'
Lesley and Jim Milligan, North Tyneside

'The perfect stop off when walking The Thames Path [or any other reason]. Lovely accommodation, an excellent meal, and friendly welcoming hosts. We couldn't have wanted for anything more! '
Val and Peter Lund

'My husband and I stayed at Ivy Cottage in the coldest of this year’s weather. Our welcome was wonderfully warm and we loved the house and its surroundings. Everything was of the highest quality and we would recommend it very highly.'
